Abstract

Approaches to solution of the inverse problem of electromagnetic sounding of subsurface layers of the Earth (determination of their permittivity) were considered with allowance for the time boundedness of a signal, presence of signal edges, and validity of the causality principle. Such consideration makes it possible to use the Laplace transform of a signal observed to develop effective methods for solving inverse problems. Peculiarities of solving the direct problem for different permittivity models were analyzed. An attempt of interpreting the effect of an increase in the characteristic frequency of a signal upon its propagation in the surface layers of the Earth was made.
