Abstract

Hypereutectic aluminum-silicon AlSi18 alloy is modified with a conventional modifier -phosphorus (P) and through a simultaneous introduction of a conventional modifier (P) and nano-modifier - nanodiamonds (ND) into the melt. Their influence on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the alloy has been investigated. It is found that the structure was modified and the mechanical properties of the alloy are increased. The impact of the two modifiers is discussed, both on the modification of the primary silicate crystals and on the eutectic of the investigated alloy.
