Abstract

Measurements of ultrasonic attenuation and X-ray powder diffraction are carried out for Tl2Ba2Ca2 · Cu3Oy. The results show ultrasonic attenuation peaks, lattice parameter stepping, and X-ray diffraction intensity weakening in the two temperature ranges, 100 to 150 and 200 to 250 K. These anomalous phenomena are caused by lattice instabilities.
