Abstract

The system NaF-LiF-LaF3 has been investigated by differential thermal and X-ray phase analysis, as well as IR spectroscopy. It has been found that the sodium fluoride-lithium fluoride-lanthanum fluoride system consists of one eutectic (mol.%): NaF(44.0)-LiF(42.0)-LaF3(14.0) with a melting point of 580±2°C and one peritectic NaF(45.0)-LiF(39.0)-LaF3(16.0) with a melting point of 595±2°C, which corresponds to the compound NaLaF4 with incongruent character of melting.
