Abstract

A method was developed for the calculation of the energy parameters of an electron-beam-controlled CO$sub 2$ laser. An experimental study was made of the output energy, efficiency, pulse shape, and duration of the radiation emitted by a 10-liter CO$sub 2$ laser as a function of the composition of the mixture, electron-beam pump power (pulse duration 1--50 $mu$s), and electric field in the active medium. The calculation method gave results which were in quantitative agreement with the experimental data. (AIP)
