Abstract

This paper presents an investigation of the electrical property of the multi-layer soil using a short-time matrix pencil method (STMPM). The simulations are conducted in order to investigate the poles on the different electrical property of soil. In simulations, a Gaussian pulse is transmitted to the multi-layer soil with various electrical properties. Poles including the damping factor and natural frequency are extracted from the electromagnetic (EM) wave scattered from the soil. Five successive poles obtained from the late-time portion were chosen to investigate their effects on the electrical property of the multi-layer soil. Simulation results show that the different electrical properties of multi-layer soil have different pole groups.
