Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of three parameters of a mini-channel cold plate on the cooling performance of a U-shaped mini-channel structure, the effects of the channel length (L), width (W), and height (H) on the temperature of the cold plate is analyzed. The results demonstrate that increasing L and W of the channel can reduce the maximum temperature and standard deviation of the temperature of the cold plate to below 40°C and 2.5°C, respectively. Additionally, increasing H resulted in an adverse effect on the temperature performance. Analysis by RSM reveals that the change of the maximum temperature has a similar effect on the standard deviation of the temperature as the change of H and L. The length of the channel has the most significant effect on the maximum temperature and standard deviation of the temperature of the cold plate, with contribution rates of 79% and 78%, respectively.
