Abstract

The mechanical property of Inconel718 is examined in terms of fatigue behavior. The main concern of this work is to determine the material's fatigue properties under pure bending fatigue conditions with additional interruptions and thermal effects. Test conditions will include room temperature, 450°C, and dwell times to simulate the material's operating environment in the engine application. Additional to fatigue testing hardness measurements and nano indentation testing were performed at ambient temperature. Fractographic and microstructural examinations of the tested specimens are performed with an optical microscope and SEM (scanning electron microscope) to understand the material's reaction to different deformation factors.
