Abstract

Investigations are performed of the effect of a phase inhomogeneity in an open cavity resonator (OR) of a diffraction-radiator oscillator (DRO) which is implemented in the form of a reflecting diffraction g~rating (RDG) on the spectrum and Q of the resonator. It is demonstrated that the compensation of such an inhomogeneity leads to an increase in the Q of the DRO resonator and to an improvement of the conditions for excitation of the OR by an electron beam. The use of a "compensated" OR in the oscillator allowed a substantial improvement in oscillator characteristics.
