Abstract

Porous structure of granulated active carbon, before and after impregnation with solution of Cr, Cu and Ag salts was investigated. Initial active carbon and the impregnated one were separately subjected to abrasion in a spouted bed, thus obtaining samples from external, middle and core regions of granules. Mesopore and micropore structures were determined using benzene adsorption/desorption isotherms. Parameters of the Dubinin-Radushkevich equation were calculated as was the micropore size distribution by the Horvath-Kawazoe method. Both active carbon and impregnated active carbon showed radial changes in micro — and mesopore structure. For impregnated active carbon samples the weight of deposited catalyst and cyanogen chloride breakthrough time were also evaluated.
