Abstract

We study the influence of temperature, aggressiveness of the media, and interface interaction on the corrosion characteristics of boron-aluminum composites with the help of simultaneous thermal analysis that combines two methods of investigation, namely, thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. By using the simultaneous thermal analysis, we establish the mass fraction of reinforcing components (boron fibers), the amount of inhibitors on the surfaces of composite materials, their thermal resistance, and the comparative intensities of corrosion in various corrosive media.
