Abstract

The excitation of weak-coupling “4p-0h” and “4p-1h” states by the four-particle transfer reactions 16O( 7Li, t) 20Ne and 15N( 7Li, t) 19F is investigated with the finite-range DWBA treatment using the α reduced width amplitudes obtained by the generator coordinate method employed on extended Bloch-Brink type wave functions. In agreement with experiment, an enhancement of the cross section in the 15N( 7Li, t) 19F transition over that in the 16O( 7Li, t) 20Ne transition is found in the forward angle region where the direct process is expected to be dominant, although its magnitude is about 50–60 % of that observed.
