Abstract

In this paper, based on the conventional flux-switching permanent magnet (PM) (FSPM), the influence of the teeth number on the stator pole in the FSPM machine is studied. In order to compare the electromagnetic performance between2-, 4-, 6-, 8-, 10-teeth/stator pole FSPM machines, the optimal combination of stator pole and rotor teeth for five same stator poles but different stator teeth FSPM machines is investigated. Then, the influence of the placement of the PMs of the FSPM machines is analyzed, Finally, the five FSPM machines are quantitatively compared by finite element analysis (FEA). The FEA-predicted results reveal that the torque contributed by the per-unit PMs volume of the FSPM machines also increases when the teeth number on the stator pole grows, which can improve the magnet utilization of the motor.
