Abstract

Crystal structure and the phase transformation behavior of perovskite-type BaTiO 3 and BaTiO 3 ceramics with nanosized particulate SiC were investigated by simultaneous measurements of internal friction and shear modulus. The Curie temperature ( T c ) gradually decreased with increasing particulate SiC content. In addition, the low-temperature transformation disappeared at SiC content over 1 vol%. Diffused phase transformation (DPT) was observed as the SiC content increased up to 3 vol%.
