Abstract
The morphology and structure of soot particles in laminar diffusion flames of anisole/n-heptane have been investigated in this work. Soot morphology has been analyzed by thermophoretic sampling and transmission electron microscopy (TS-TEM). Further, a detailed TEM image process was performed and a set of fractal-based distribution analysis algorithms were proposed and applied in this study. The addition of anisole in n-heptane flames greatly influences the soot formation process, which leads to form the soot at the lower part of the flame and subsequently larger primary particle diameters. Moreover, the characteristics of the primary particle diameter distributions, the number of primary particles per aggregate, the aggregate sizes and the fractal dimensions of the anisole/n-heptane flames have been discussed in details.
