Abstract
The equilibrium reactions leading to complex formation between caffeine and six pharmaceuticals have been studied. The stability constants at several temperatures, the heats of reaction, and the entropy changes have been approximated. It is shown that complex formation may lead to either a decrease or an increase in the solubilities of the reactants. The influence of structure on equilibrium is also discussed.
