Abstract
We have investigated the radiation trapping phenomenon in a standard Magneto-Optical Trap (MOT) for Cesium atoms. These measurements, obtained by monitoring the radiative decay of the excited trapped atoms, allowed an independent check for the density and the number of cold atoms in the MOT.
