Abstract

The work is devoted to experimental investigation of polarization backscattering amplitude patterns for metal cube by the quasi-optical waveguide modeling (QWM) method in the sub-THz frequency range. For the first time the experimental layout of quasi-optical automated polarimetric micro-compact range (PMCR) is used for amplitude scattering patterns measuring. PMCR is created on the basis of quasi-optical transmission line, namely circular hollow dielectric waveguide (HDW), quasi-optical and waveguide functional devices, and elements of SHF circuit. The measured results of polarization scattering matrix (PSM) elements and their backscattering patterns (monostatic case) for a metal cube are presented. The patterns are obtained for horizontal and vertical polarizations in proper linear polarization basis.
