Abstract

Three asymmetric Sm(III) complexes featuring 6-Fluoro-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-3-carboxaldehyde, 2,2’-Biquinoline, 4-Methyl-1,10-Phenanthroline, and Bathocuproine were prepared and characterized. The sharp peaks in powder XRD suggest high crystallinity in the complexes. The thermal behavior of complexes was studied under an inert atmosphere using thermogravimetric analysis. The Sm(III) samples deliver excellent luminescent properties in powder (red emission) and solution (orange emission). The decay time was best fitted with the mono-exponential function. The good PL characteristics of complexes suggest their potential applications in solid-state lighting, optical devices, liquid lasers.
