Abstract
Natural products continue to be an important resource for drug discovery, but microorganisms found in the world’s oceans have been largely overlooked in this regard. Current study focussed on extraction, partial purification and structure elucidation of bioactive compounds produced by Streptomyces parvus and Streptomyces californicus. Productions of bioactive compounds from the potential isolated strains in modified yeast malt extract medium. The compound extracted from the fermented medium and the extracted compounds analysed by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Five different compounds were extracted and confirmed as 1-Heptadecene, 1,3 Benzenedicarboxylic acid, 1-Tetradecanol, Phenol 2,4 bis(1,1- dimethyl ethyl) and Pentatriacone from the strains. Antimicrobial activity was analyzed against Gram positive, Gram negative and fungal pathogens and anticancer activity were analyzed MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines.
