Investigation of nursing action in the ward of direct rooming-in in obstetrical department in Beijing hospitals

Abstract

Objective To describe current nursing action in the ward of direct rooming-in in obstetrical department in 35 Beijing hospitals. Methods Convenience sampling was applied to survey the ward of direct rooming-in in obstetrical department in 35 Beijing hospitals with self-designed questionnaire, and statistics analysis was conduced on the results. Results There are altogether 107 items of nursing action in the ward of direct rooming-in in obstetrical department, among them, 44 items were all done by the nurses in 35 Beijing hospitals, 67 items were done by the nurses in more than 90% Beijing hospitals. Conclusions The number of nursing action was too much and human resources allocation was relatively inadequate in the ward of direct rooming-in in obstetrical department in 35 Beijing hospitals.
