Abstract

Vanadium carbide coatings deposited on steel AISI 52100 (the Russian counterpart is bearing steel ShKh15) by the method of thermo-reactive diffusion (TRD) in a sealed container at 900°C for 2 – 8 h are studied. The structure of the coatings is analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffractometry. The microhardness is measured. Adhesion tests are performed by the Daimler-Benz Rockwell-C method. The adhesion strength of the coating with parameters HF1 – HF2 matching the VDI 3198 Standard is shown to be satisfactory.
