Abstract

Background The gas transportation system of PJSC Gazprom is being under long-term operation. Most of the gas transportation system consists of large-diameter main gas pipilines. To ensure the work capacity of the main gas pipelines, in-line de-fectoscopy is carried out, allowing to determine up to 90 % of all defects in construction and installation works and defects appearing during long-term operation. In this paper, methods for maintaining the performance of main gas-conductors based on the results of in-line flaw detection are considered. Aims and Objectives Analysis of the current state of the gas transportation system according to the type of pipes, length, types of defects and accidents. Development of recommendations based on the results of the analysis will increase the efficiency of the methods of maintaining the operation of main gas pipelines under long-term operation. Metods The use of statistical data on the extent, types, characteristics of defects and emergency conditions of the operating gas transportation system. Results There was analyzed the state of the gas transportation system as of the beginning of 2017. It was established that the operating life of 45 % of the main gas pipelines exceeds the established one - 33 years. Main gas pipelines constructed in the period 1975-1990, are being currently in operation for more than 30 years. It was revealed that 75 % of accidents were recorded on gas pipelines older than 30 years, while their share from the total length of the gas transportation system is about 40 %. The terms of the onset of the wear period can be postponed by the implementation of measures to increase the reliability of gas pipelines. Gazprom PJSC is implementing measures to improve the reliability of the linear part of the main gas pipelines. Diagnostics of gas transport facilities allows to carry out the transition to their operation «according to the technical state». The paper shows that in the presence of pipeline defects of the linear part of the main gas pipelines, measures are being taken to manage the operating modes of the gas transportation system, reducing the impact of cyclic on-loads on pipelines.

Development of recommendations based on the results of the analysis will increase the efficiency of the methods of maintaining the operation of main gas pipelines under long-term operation.
