Investigation of mental status of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients with gastric lavage

Abstract

Objective To understand the mental status of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients with gastric lavage,and to analyze the related factors,and to find effective method of nursing.Methods Eighty-four acute organophosphoms pesticide poisoning patients with gastric lavage were surveyed by mental status scale in non.psychiatric settings (MSSNS),and the results were analyzed.Results The average and total scores of all factors including anxiety,depression,anger,loneliness in acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients with gastric lavage were respectively (24.21 ±5.36),(16.67 ±3.74),(12.94 ±2.65),(13.73 ±3.85),(67.55 ±11.64),and were higher than (19.20 ±5.82),(13.70 ±4.20),(9.19 ±2.17),(12.25 ±3.72),(54.33 ± 13.36) in the non-psychiatric inpatient,and the differences were statistically significant (t =6.273,7.893,9.471,3.431,8.151,respectively; P ＜ 0.01).The factor and total scores of depression and anxiety in the primary school education patients were respectively (25.31 ± 8.47),(18.37 ±4.90),(73.89 ± 11.32),and were higher than those in the higher education patients.The score of anxiety in the patients of less than 30 years old was higher than other groups,and the scores of every aspect and total score in the patients of more than 40 years old were higher than other groups,and the differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The variety of negative mental status of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients with gastric lavage are more obvious than those of the norm patients,and the incidence rates of anxiety and loneliness were especially high,suggesting that the nurses should pay attention to the patients' psychological reactions and take effective individual psychological intervention so as to alleviate the poor mental status of patients with gastric lavage.
