Abstract
The IR-reflectivity of garnets and magnetite is investigated with and without externally applied magnetic field. For the measurements without externally applied magnetic field the ATR-method is used. The observation of optical magnons, of infrared forbidden phonons, and the behaviour of reststrahlenbands, depending on the observation in the Voigt- or Faraday- configuration, is reported.
