Abstract
Background: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a significant preventable risk factor for early mortality worldwide. It disrupts the normal mechanisms that regulate arterial pressure. This study aims to assess the knowledge of senior staff nurses regarding hypertension and associated risk factors, irrespective of their personal diagnosis of hypertension. The objective is to enhance primary and secondary prevention and control programs for cardiovascular diseases.
 Materials and Methods: A structured questionnaire comprising closed-ended questions with yes/no responses was administered to 141 nurses. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 26, with statistical significance set at p<0.05.
 Results: The study population had a mean age of 40.014 ± 11.34 years, with 100% female participants. The majority of nurses (87.2%) had received training in hypertension management. Based on their responses, 87.2% of the nurses demonstrated accurate knowledge about hypertension.
 Conclusion: It is imperative to address the presence of misinformation among nursing staff in cardiology hospitals in Pakistan. Increasing awareness about hypertension can contribute to improved patient management and enhance nursing care and services.
