Abstract
Heat flow has been measured at 200 points in the Ukraine. It changes from 25.1 (0.6 HFU) to 104.7 (2.5 HFU) mW/m 2. The mean value of the flow is about 46.1 (1.1 HFU) mW/m 2. If this value is assumed to represent a «normalå level of the field a number of negative and positive anomalies may be distinguished. A negative anomaly is associated with the Ukrainian crystalline shield. It is connected with the distribution of radioactive elements and tectonic features of this region. Positive anomalies are generally associated with geosynclinal, tetonically active regions. They can be explained as due to redistribution of thermal energy in areas of geosynclinal folding.
