Abstract

Objective To investigate the implementation situation of hand hygiene in tertiary hospital,explore measures for improving the compliance of medical staffs in hand hygiene.Methods The implementation situation of hand hygiene in medical staffs was evaluated by blinded observation and the pathogens in their hands were detected.Results The total implementation rate of hand hygiene was 44.49% and the rate was higher in nurses(47.24%)than doctors (39.90%),trainee was the lowest(35.29% ).Among different departments,the implementation rate in pediatric was the highest(51.40%),gynecology and obstetrics was the second(46.18%),and surgical department was the lowest (40.00%).Hand hygiene implementation rate was significantly higher in fast hand disinfectant was offered than not offered ( x2=10.05,P <0.01).There were hand-washing facilities or the facilities were convenient to get had no significant impact on the implementation rate( x2 =0.04,0.01,P > 0.05).The most common bacteria carried by hand was gram-positive bacteria,such as coagulase-negative Staphylococci,Bacillus subtilis and so on.Conclusions Hand hygiene implementation rate is low in tertiary hospital,so it is urgent to create a good atmosphere of hand hygiene,in order to improve hand-washing facility,provide fast hand disinfectants to improve the compliance of medical staffs in hand hygiene,which can reduce the incidence of hospital infection.
