Abstract

ABSTRACT Jute, a natural fiber available in India is used as reinforcement in composites because it is cheap, renewable and easy to process. Therefore, jute composites have drawn the attention of various industries and researchers. In this study, a new treating method in which sodium hydroxide solution introduced to treat jute fabric in order to enhance the performance of jute/epoxy composite. Different percentages of alkali-treated jute fabric-reinforced composites have been developed and their mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength have been assessed. Physical properties like thickness swelling and water absorption test were studied.
