Abstract
Examination of the glycopeptide material obtained from a urea extract of an amyloid-containing liver, from amyloid fibril preparations, and from the untreated organ suggests that the original amyloid contained two types of glycoprotein. The carbohydrate in one glycopeptide was predominantly neutral hexose, whereas the other contained significant amounts of sialic acid which may be responsible for some histochemical properties of amyloid.
