Abstract

The thermal efficiency of solar chimney can be improved by making model design changes. In this study, a solar chimney temperature at solar chimney entry and exit is investigated. The effect of polythene sheet is investigated with the temperature change. Efficiency at different time has been found. An experimental model comprising a 5 m- diameter solar air collector, 3 m-height chimney, and 6 cm collector height was designed and fabricated. The temperature rise is observed from entry to exit showing result near to collector area using glass. The average efficiency using polythene for collector area is 9.25 %.
