Abstract
The article considers the possibility of improving starting characteristics of small-size diesel engine type CH8,5/11 by replacing vortex combustion chamber by piston combustion chamber. The authors present the formulas for determination of optimum amount of cycle fuel supply in diesel engine start mode, fuel vaporization in start mode in volume and from the wall of a cylindrical combustion chamber. Results of experimental studies show the influence of cycle fuel supply on duration of small-sized diesel start-up.
