Abstract

Abstract The paper reports on part of a study concerned with the dynamic modelling and real-time control of a wastewater treatment plant. As part of this study, attempts were made to estimate oxygen transfer and oxygen utilisation rates (OUR) during a sequence of full-scale experiments on the plant. The effect of changes in the aeration rate on the dissolved oxygen regime were monitored automatically via a minicomputer. A variety of methods of estimating aeration efficiency and CUR were investigated and the results of this work are reported.
