Abstract

Partial diffusion coefficients of three different Cu-alloys with varying solute atom size relative to the matrix, namely Cu Be, Cu Ni and Cu Mn have been measured with SIMS after irradiation with 300 keV Cu +-ions at temperatures between 300 K and 700 K. For defect production rates of 10 −3 dpa s −1 diffusion coefficients were in the range of 10 −15 cm s −1 at 600 K. Segregation kinetics of the undersized Be have been investigated in detail in the undersaturated alloy with TEM. Precipitates of the γ-phase have been observed between 500 K and 700 K. The size of these precipitates attains a stable diameter after a dose of about 1 dpa. The results are discussed within the framework of point defect kinetics and interactions of point defects with the alloying atoms.
