Abstract

The corrosion rate of AISI 316 SS in 1 M perchloric acid with the addition of benzotriazole as a corrosion inhibitor was investigated. It was shown that benzotriazole is a cathodic inhibitor, i.e. slows down the cathodic depolarization reaction. The inhibition efficiency reaches about 40% with an inhibitor concentration of about 10-2 M.
