Abstract

In this work we will analyze acoustic streaming in the cochlea. A model will be developed to examine the steady flow induced by the harmonic excitation of a fluid in a rigid two-dimensional waveguide. The strength of the flow will depend on the time-phase between the axial velocity and the boundary velocity. It was found in previous work that the amplitude of the flow is directly related to the streaming Reynolds number. These results will be used to compare with Bekesy’s observations.
