Abstract

To analyze and to optimize the cooling conditions at blown film extrusion lines, the cooling air stream has been determined by using a hot wire anemometer. The velocity and temperature profiles of the air stream and the air pressure along the bubble have been measured. During film extrusion the significant process parameters and the cooling air ring geometry have been varied. The goal of these studies is to gain a theoretical description of the cooling air stream. Therefore, the experimental results represent a good basis for developing and checking the results of such a model.
