Abstract

In the present study, four materials, nickel, tantalum, EN58B and titanium are examined, and information about the drilling speed is obtained. A statistical analysis of the results for drilling speed is undertaken, and the significance of each factor examined is determined. It is found that to obtain good holes it is not merely a matter of optimizing the surface power intensity, but adjusting all factors so that the process of transferring energy into the workpiece produces the desired effects.
