Abstract

In this work, an asymmetric circular microstrip antenna has been proposed for with two fold objectives: i) to reshape substrate E-field beneath the patch structure that leads to XP radiation suppression, ii) to introduce minimal perturbation over the patch surface for ease in fabrication. The structure is low profile, and easy to manufacture. The proposed structure exhibits improved CP-XP isolation of around 20–30 dB along the bore-sight. The proposed antenna exhibits flat top radiation patterns in both the planes with a gradual roll-off, which enhances the novelty of the design.
