Abstract
Objective To investigate the mastering degree and the application of the relevant knowledge of pressing after the withdrawal of needles with intravenous transfusion in elderly patients. Methods The general condition, cyanosis situation after pulling out the needles, mastering of knowledge of pressing, data based on 3 min and 5 min were investigated by a self-designed questionnaire. Results The survey was conducted among the elderly patients with the average aged (83.3±5.45), the cyanosis phenomenon after pulling needles were found accounting for 47.5%, the pressing time more than 5 min were known by patients accounting for 40%, the pressing time more than 3 min were known by patients accounting for 52.5%.The numeral values of 3 min and 5 min were (244±66)and(400±105). Conclusion The time and the way of pressing after the withdrawal of needles from the venous transfusion are not well mastered by the elderly patients.The inadequate time and wrong way of pressing are the main causes of the cyanosis phenomenon after needles being pulled out.It is strongly recommend that the criteria of pressing should be definitely set up and listed as part of the testing criteria.At the same time, the methods should be measurable, funny and easily acceptable.
