Abstract

Objective To investigate and analyse the status quo of discipline construction of anesthesiology departments in Guangxi.Methods Two hundred and ten hospitals were involved in questionnaire survey,which included manpower resource,working spectrum and anesthetic equipments.Results 133 questionnaires (63.3%) were retrieved.The survey data of 4 first-level hospitals was excluded.The ratio of operation table to anesthetist in 129 secondary and tertiary hospitals was 1∶1.2.In tertiary hospitals,88.9% of anesthetists had bachelor degree or above.In secondary hospitals,39.8% of anesthetists had college degree or below and only 2.3% of anesthetists had senior professional title.Among the 129 hospitals,anesthesia for induced abortion,endoscopy and labor analgesia was carried out in 112 hospitals(86.7%),83 hospitals (63.5%) and 69 hospitals(53.4%)respectively.Postanesthetic care unit,pain branch and intensive care unit was set up in 42 hospitals (32.5%),34 hospitals (26.3%) and 60 hospital (46.5%) respectively.Anesthetic equipments in 27 hospitals (20.9%) were not considered qualified by anesthetic staff.Conclusions Scarcity of anesthesiologists is obvious in most of these hospitals with unreasonable academic credentials and professional titles structure.Comfort medicine was not extensively developed.Diagnosis and management of pain and Critical Care Medicine were hardly developed Anesthetic equipments allocation failed to reach the 'ideal state.Discipline construction of departments of anesthesiology in Guangxi should be modified.
