Abstract

Single-strand-double-strand (ss-ds) DNA junctions play important roles in protein recognition and binding interactions in DNA replication and repair. The functionality of ss-dsDNA junctions is derived, at least in part, from intrinsic disorder at these sites that results in non-canonical local DNA conformations and conformational dynamics. Primer/template (P/T) DNA junctions serve as sites for the multistep assembly of the DNA polymerase/sliding clamp holoenzyme that drives DNA replication and proof-reading.
