Abstract

[enter Abstract Body]Folding's philosophy for the first time was proposed by the French philosopher, Gilles Deleuze. In his view, human desires are divided into paranoid and schizoid. Schizoid desire is placed in the opposite point of the paranoid desire and stands against society and history, and it is revolutionary and transgressive. Gilles Deleuze, with the same thinking, made two major criticisms on the style and institutional theme of Western history and philosophy, one was about thinking about philosophers and thinkers of the past and present, and one was the way of educating philosophers. Deleuze proposed folding's philosophy against Platonic and Cartesian thoughts and questioning the modernism and structuralism, and presented three basic concepts in the discussion of folding, Rhizome, Fold, and Nomad. Eisenman first entered Deleuze's thoughts into the architecture that led to the emergence of folding architecture in the United States. If we consider the transgressive and revolutionary desire, especially the anti- Cartesian philosophy of Gilles Deleuze in Folding's philosophy, how is the existence of schizoid thoughts in the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze led to the formation of folding architecture? By an in-depth study of philosophy and thoughts of Gilles Deleuze and explaining the meaning and concept of schizoid desire from his perspective, we find a complex structure of influence in Folding architecture, and by identifying this structure, we can find out how the existence of schizoid thoughts in the formation of folding's architecture. In Deleuze's thought, schizoid has a meaning beyond its use in psychiatry. In fact, it is an illusion of a person who does not confine himself to close and flexible intellectual, social and political systems. In psychoanalysis, the Schizophrenia person resists against Oedipus or socialization. This meaning is generalized to the semantic systems of human life. Architecture, beyond its semantic and topographic meaning, is not the only place to live, but the embodiment of human imagination from its meaning and its place in the universe. Therefore, any transformation in human consciousness shows itself in the human house. Man dwells in two places, one language and elsewhere in the place.
