Abstract

The residual stress of bearing inner race after superfinishing machining along the axial direction is usually measured by using an X-ray analyzer. The experimental results show that the residual stress on the surface of the bearing raceway is compressive stress with an average value of −266 to −438 MPa, and the circumferential residual stress on the bottom surface of the bearing raceway is greater than the axial residual stress. The obtained results reveal that the oilstone pressure has a significant effect on the residual compressive stress. It is found that increasing the oilstone pressure can significantly improve the residual compressive stress on the surface of the bearing raceway.
