Abstract

This study investigates the impact of eLearning using LMS on the performance of teaching and learning in higher education. It adopts a pre-test-post-test control group experimental design with the use of survey of the participants in the experiment. Statistical analysis is performed on the data collected from 137 undergraduate students in South African universities through pre-test and post-test surveys. The results reveal that eLearning using LMS is more effective than traditional instruction methods with respect to the improvement of the performance of teaching and learning in higher education. Such findings are useful for higher education institutions particularly in developing countries in their decision to adopt these digital technologies for improving teaching and learning performance.
