Abstract
The study described several hematological parameters in children with Dengue hemorrhagic fever newly hospitalized at Tra Vinh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in 2022. The retrospective study investigated 400 selected children. The results showed that children with severe Dengue hemorrhagic fever accounted for 5.5\%. For epidemiological characteristics, within the population of children with the disease, 43.75\% were aged 10 to 16 years old, the male/female ratio was 1.18/1, the majority were Kinh ethnic group (77.5\%) and lived in rural areas (71.8\%). For characteristics of hematological indicators, platelets and white blood cells decreased, PT \% decreased, and APTT prolonged. The factors, including age group, the decrease in platelet counts, the increase in hematocrit, and the increase in APTT time, are associated with the incidence of severe dengue in children. The study results contribute to identifying a group of patients at risk of severe dengue in the first test after being hospitalized, which helps doctors closely monitor and detect early serious complications for timely treatment.
