Abstract

The results of the study showed that in 31000 square meters of study area, 3304 Haloxylon trees, 2655 green Haloxylon, 649 dry Haloxylon and 644 rat nests, 338 active nests and 306 inactive nests were counted. The average number of active and inactive nests per plot was 10.9 and 9.8, respectively. The most important factor in the abundance of rodent nests in the area were the appropriate and light texture of soil with low compaction for nesting. The nests were more abundant in areas with a green Haloxylon. Also, in areas with characteristics close to agricultural lands, high humidity and availability of food, the abundance of nests was greater.
