Abstract

ABSTRACT This manuscript deals with effect on input parameters of wire cut electrical discharge machining of Ti Alloy 6242. An exploratory research on the significance of four method parameters namely voltage, pulse-on-time, pulse-off-time and wire feeding speeds by Wire Cut Electrical Discharge Machines (WCEDM) for titanium alloy, Ti–6Al–2Sn–4Zr–2Mo, is undertaken. The optimisation part has been predicted by using TOPSIS method. It has been identified that with the increased pulse-on-time, the material removal rate (MRR) rises and simultaneously reduced in voltage rate, pulse-on-off and wire feed rate. Hence, the research work has been explored by optimising MRR (mm3/min), Ra (µm) and SN Ratio of MRR and Ra. The optimum MRR has been identified as 2.5211 mm3/min.
