Abstract

The advancement in the field of electrical paradigm accelerated the research towards accepting a new era of technology that would be self-sufficient and high in reliability. Microgrid (M G) is the potential state of the art technology that can disseminate the controlled power to the world. Conservation voltage reduction (CVR) is the viable concept applied in the distribution sector for many years and it is the most promising scheme to curtail the power consumption. The voltage deduction within the permissible standards smoothly runs the electrical grid without disturbing the comfort of the consumer. The application of CVR in the stand-alone MG is considered to be a prospective approach and hence, the power saving phenomena are investigated in the paper with the deduction of voltage parameter. The voltage of the stand-alone MG is being scaled down with the application of the V-I droop method and further, it directly influences the power consumption which shows the potential of demand side management (DSM). In addition, the validation of the controller is being done through 5 bus microgrid test system and the proposed scheme is justified by comparing it with the conventional P-f/QV droop scheme. The performance of DSM enabled controller is tested on MATLAB/Simulink software.
