Abstract

The aim of the paper is to recognize and to assess the scope of Non-Governmental Organisations cooperating across the Polish Eastern border. Non-Governmental Organisations as the vital element of civil society may play a significant role in stimulating social and economic relations between citizens from bordering countries. This paper is focused on the Polish - Russian (Kaliningrad Oblast) and Polish - Ukrainian border region and is based on empirical data from over 150 questionnaire surveys conducted on both sides of the border. The gathered information shows not only how organisations operate but also partly indicates the nature of local border society.
